Stranahan's Colorado whiskey tour

Here is on I miss on our way through Colorado. We stopped at Stranahan's for a whiskey tour. They are the first Colorado born whiskey. This is a very small distillery for now, but they are expanding and about to distribute their product to even more retailers.

Whiskey aging in barrrels

It was neat for us to see the process compared to the brewery tours we have seen. It is the same process for beer until the distilling. All in all it was a great experience, they showed us exactly how to taste whiskey for enjoyment!

Appalachian Cabins, West Virginia

After visiting our friends Jay and Shamla in Virginia, we headed with them to the Appalachian Cabins in West Virginia. The cabin was pretty awesome to spend a couple of nights in. It had a full kitchen, slept up to 8, and had a hot tub!

Down the road from the cabin is Seneca rocks! Jay took us on a hike and then we tried some rock climbing.

Sometimes i just don't want my picture taken. :)

Here is the river we had to cross to start our climb up the rocks.

Great views from the point we made it too. We didn't go all the way to the top, maybe about 3/4 of the way.

Relaxing, waiting for my turn to rock climb down.

There's Jonathan, he was a pro, just like he is at everything he does!

Looking from the Ulysses S. Grant memorial toward Washington monument

On our bike ride we saw some interesting art.

The Washington Monument under construction

The Lincoln Memorial

The whole building was marble, it was amazing.

Huge building, tiny door.

The White House

A nice little bench to get a quick rest.

Washington DC

It was really great in DC. Our friend Jay and his wife Shamla let us use there bikes so we were able to really see a lot. We took the Metro from their house into the city and popped out in front of the Smithsonian. The building was beautiful, it had all sorts of interesting things inside, like a piece of wood from schools of presidents. :)

Next we visited the Air and Space museum. Jonathan was really excited here and couldn't take enough pictures. Here are just a few of the several he took.

More DC to come

Old town Alexandria,VA

When we arrived in Virginia, we went to old town Alexandria. This is a historic area that is now filled with boutiques, restaurants, and antique shops. It is all along the waterfront, so it is lovely to walk around.

It is a little hard to see, but you can see the capital building in the background.
