Train Wreck, Whistler

Here is another hike we did as we were leaving Whistler called Trainwreck. We had a little trouble navigating the trail and ended up going the wrong way at first. Although being a bit tougher of a hike it still has some pretty awesome sites.

This pond here is part of somebody's camp. There was an outhouse with a real toilet seat that sits over a cliff. :) Also an insulated hut, a bbq and other random items laying around. It was kinda cool to see how extreme some people choose to live.

This is ice on the side of the hill.

When we realized we had gone the wrong way, we had to turn back and go back down the mountain.

Now we are happy because we found the right way!

Finally we have found the trainwreck. Apparently decades ago this train derailed, leaving 7 train cars. It was deemed to expensive to clean up, so it was just left. Over the years people have made it into some awesome art and an epic looking mountain bike trail.

Some of the train cars are hanging off of cliffs, others were just crushed. It was pretty eerie.

It was hard to capture, but here is one of the ramps for the mountain bike trails. They jump off of the train cars onto these ramps, around banked turns. Pretty ballsy stuff.

The easiest way to return to the car was to walk down the tracks. Pretty awesome hike, even with the detour. I would say to anybody who wants to do this one, follow the paint.
