Kennebunkport, Maine

We made it to the Atlantic ocean!!
We drove from Oregon all the way to Kennebunkport, Maine. What a neat place, it's not a big place, but I think that's how it keeps it's charm. The downtown square is full of cute little shops and restaurants like the Clam Shack where we enjoyed our first Lobster roll. It was pretty yummy, but we really enjoyed the clam cake burger, it was way cheaper and tastier in my opinion. Also a short walk away is the beautiful beach.

Cricket loves the beach and was so excited to finally arrive!

The houses along the beach were all very large and gorgeous.
This was a particular favorite.

A great selfie. :)

This is the Wedding cake house, the most photographed house in the state. Built in 1835 by George W. Bourne. The "Wedding Cake" name was applied to the house due to its wedding cake-like appearance. Legend developed that the busy Bourne, a sea captain, had done the carpentry work to atone for not having taken his bride, Jane, on a proper honeymoon. This was not the case.

Here is Goat Island Lighthouse located off Cape Porpoise near Kennebunkport, established in 1835.

A couple more shots of Cricket enjoying herself.

In the places we have been I have been buying shirts to remember the journey. I didn't get one in Maine however because the ones they had were pretty strange.
This one below was in the Maine souvenir area, the only reason it wasn't purchased was because it did not say Maine. It did have a lot to offer! :)
